Carroll, a senior at South Shelby High School, is the daughter of E.W. Carroll and Kathy Gerrish. Her FFA advisor is Tim Larrick. As a member of the South Shelby FFA Chapter, Carroll attended the National FFA convention, the Missouri Sate FFA convention and entered in an entomology contest. Outside of the FFA Carroll is the United Methodist youth fellowship president, is in the marching band and is the vice president of the National Honor Society. Carroll’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) started with her renting 30 acres of farmable bottom land from a local neighbor. She prepared her soil, cultivated the land, planted corn and a year later planted soybeans. Although her fields were flooded, she still was able to harvest most of her soybeans. Her future plans are continuing to the 30 acres that she currently rents and to expand her acreage. After high school, she plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University and pursue a degree in pre-veterinary medicine. As a member of FFA, Carroll has attended national and state conventions. She competed in the Missouri State Entomology contest, individual State Forestry and Meats, and attended the Missouri State FFA Leadership Camp. She has previously received a State Proficiency Award for Grain Production and is the Grand Champion FFA Division for Sweet Corn. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Oil & Fiber Crop Production is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. The Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council sponsors this award. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands . The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. -END-
