White from South Shelby Named Area 3 Star in Placement COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kory A. White from the South Shelby FFA Chapter as the Area 3 Star in Placement at the 81th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Daniel and Deborah White of Shelbina, Mo. His advisor is Tim Larrick. Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 3 covers 22 chapters in the Northeast District. MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the Area Star in Placement Awards. White’s Supervised Agriculture Experience Program is turf grass management. White began mowing and maintaining yards for his grandparents and their neighbors. Two years later White had the opportunity to increase the number of yards he maintained, so he started up his own business. He became known as a hard working responsible young man. He now maintains 22 yards. White currently serves as the chapter second vice president. White’s team placed fourth at the State FFA Convention in Agriculture Sales Career Development events(CDE). He competed on the livestock, dairy foods and agronomy CDEs teams as well. White also placed second in the turf grass management placement proficiency at the state convention last year. He has attended the National FFA convention and the State FFA leadership camp for three years. White is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, JR Booster Club, Fellowship Christian Athletes, and student council. He is also a four-year member of the varsity golf team and he is currently the captain for the team. He is a participant of the ACES/PRIMO medical program in Northeast Missouri. He is an active volunteer at community events. After high school graduation, White plans to attend Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo. studying business administration. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 316 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
