Tyler Wilt state winner 2009 Missouri FFA Beef Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Tyler Wilt, of the South Shelby FFA Chapter, Shelbina, Mo., was named the state winner of the FFA Beef Production Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Wilt is a senior at South Shelby High School . He is the son of David and Lori Wilt. His advisor is Tim Larrick.

 

As an FFA member, Wilt participated in career development events including livestock and agronomy. He has received state proficiency awards such as beef production placement and ag sales entrepreneurship. Wilt also has attended state and national conventions.  

 

Wilt started his supervised agricultural experience very young when his dad bought him his first cows. Wilt raises and sells registered Angus cattle He has also worked on his family farm helping his dad and grandpa since he was able. He has developed skills in feeding cattle, artificially inseminate cattle, bale hay and operate farming machinery.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Beef Production Entrepreneurship is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. The Missouri Cattlemen’s Association sponsors this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters.  The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands .
