Christopher B. Burstert second place Winner of the 2009 Missouri FFA Beef Production Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009–Christopher B. Burstert, of the Richmond FFA Chapter, Richmond, Mo., was named the second place winner of the FFA Beef Production Placement Proficiency Award at the 81^st Missouri FFA Convention.

Burstert, a senior at Richmond High School, is the son of Brian and Kipper Burstert. His advisor is Joe Robinson and Adam Brock.

As an FFA member, Snider attended state FFA and the National FFA conventions in 2006. Burstert was on the meats and poultry Career Development Event. He was also on the RHS Choir, Spartan Card, and Missouri Cattleman’s Association.

Burstert began his Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) eight years ago when his family purchased eight acres. During the hay seasons he rakes and hauls in approximately 3,000 bales of hay.

After high school graduation, Burstert plans to work for the railroad, and have a small farm/ranch.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Beef Production is one of the 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. This award is sponsored by the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and The Virgin Islands.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
