HOWLETT WINS 2ND MISSOURI FFA AGRICULTURAL SALES PLACEMENT PROFICIENCY AWARD

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 –Hannah Howlett, of the Richland FFA Chapter, Richland, Mo., was named the second place winner of the Agricultural Sales Placement Proficiency Award at the 81^st Missouri FFA Convention.

Howlett, a senior at Richland R-IV High School, is the daughter of Eddie and Jana Howlett. Her FFA advisor is Scott Hedges.

As an FFA member Howlett has served as the chapter reporter from 2007-2009. She attended National and State FFA conventions and Leadership convention.

Outside of FFA Howlett participated in softball and is a member of the Young Republican Club.

Howlett started her Supervised Agricultural Experience by working with her father at his tractor business selling Mahindra tractors, Land Pride farm equipment, Husqvarna forestry and makes side dump hay trailers. By working for her father, she developed many useful skills that she will use later on in life. She became well known with excel, developed sale techniques, became a confident speaker and developed time management skills.

After graduation Howlett plans to attend college to become a physical therapist and work in a small area hospital.

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Sales Placement is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at the state level. Midwest Seed Genetics sponsored this award.

The Missouri FFA Association has more than 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 500,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands .
