Missouri FFA News Releases

COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Hannah Howlett of the Richland FFA Chapter as the Area 13 Star in Placement at the 81^st Missouri FFA Convention. She is the daughter of Eddie and Jana Howlett of Richland, MO. Her advisor is Scott Hedges.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agriculture business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 13 covers 22 chapters in the South Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star in Placement awards.

Howlett’s SAE program began when she started working for her father at his tractor business. Howlett works as a secretary, cashier and sales person at Ed’s Farm and Lawn. Ed’s Farm and Lawn sells tractors, farm equipment and hay trailers.

Howlett has served as chapter reporter two years in a row. Howlett has competed on the FFA knowledge team and for the past two years and she has competed on the Floriculture team. Howlett was the area agriculture communications proficiency winner last year.

Howlett has been a member of the Young Republicans Club and Student Council. She was the co-captain of the Richland softball team. Howlett is a member of the Richland First Baptist Church .

After high school graduation Howlett plans to study Physical Therapy in college.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
