FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE|
Choate from Pleasant Hope FFA Chapter named Area 10 Star in Placement
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Cooper Choate of the Pleasant Hope FFA Chapter as the Area 10 Star in Placement. Choate is the son of Errol and Jill Choate of Pleasant Hope. His advisors are Jared Brown and Justin Asher.
Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a student’s supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 10 includes 23 chapters in the Southwest District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.
Choate’s SAE program began when he started working for his father in a well repair and maintenance service business. They install around 1,000 pumps a year. The average well is 400-foot deep. Choate’s primary duty is trouble-shooting issues including checking pressure switches for proper voltage, correcting amperage for accurate water pressure, and checking tank air pressure to ensure a working pump.
Choate served as chapter 2nd vice president. He was winner of the area environmental science/natural resources management proficiency award and was named Chapter Star Placement. He has attended the National FFA Convention & Expo, and the Greenhand Motivational Conference.
In addition to FFA, Choate participated in football. He is a member of the Missouri Groundwater Association, National Groundwater Association, and an eight-year member of the Missouri Water Wells Association.
After graduating high school, Choate’s plans include buying the family’s well repair and maintenance service business from his father.
The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
