ELLISON, FROM THE CLOPTON FFA CHAPTER RECOGNIZED AS AREA 5 STAR IN AGRIBUSINESS
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009 - The Missouri FFA Association named Alex Ellison of Eolia, Mo., a member of the Clopton FFA Chapter, as Area 5 Star in Agribusiness at the 81th Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Greg and Donna Ellison. His advisor is Mike McCrory.
Area Star in Agribusiness is based on outstanding agribusiness activities as part of the student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and FFA leadership activities. Area 5 covers 18 chapters in the Northeast District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the Area Star in Agribusiness awards.
Ellison’s SAE program consists of operating and owning a produce company.
Ellison served as chapter vice president and sentinel. He competed in the forestry career development event and received a Group I rating at the state level. He was on the State FFA Courtesy Corps and was a state delegate. He has attended National FFA Convention.
Ellison has served as a class officer for four years. He was co-captain of the Clopton basketball team and baseball team.
After high school graduation, Ellison plans to study agricultural journalism at the University of Missouri .
The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
