Paris FFA Poultry Team Wins First Place at State
COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 - The Paris FFA Chapter won first place in the FFA Poultry Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 48 teams in the competition.
The winning team members are Heidi Davis, Matt Jeffers, Nathan Mooneyham and Sarah Ray. Jeffers ranked third, Davis sixth, Mooneyham seventh and Ray placed 34th out of 179 individuals. The Paris FFA advisors are Jessy Reuterdahl and Josh Bondy.
The poultry teams evaluate, identify and present their findings on live production hens, ready-to-cook turkeys, processed poultry products, cartons of eggs and broiler parts. In addition, a multiple-choice test and a problem-solving section on poultry management and production are included in the scoring.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
