Taylor Huhmann Receives Second Place Missouri FFA Emerging Agricultural Technology Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009– Taylor Huhmann of the Tipton FFA Chapter, Tipton Mo., placed second  in the Emerging Agricultural Technology Proficiency Award at the 81st  Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Huhmann is a senior at Tipton High School . She is the daughter of Brain and Jo Ann Huhmann. Her advisors are Gary Morris and Duane Melton

 

Huhmann’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) involves running the family ash and compost business called Ozark Gold. She has developed skills maneuvering and using a skid steer effectively. Over the years she has gained knowledge about turning raw materials into ash and compost.

 

As an FFA member Huhmann is currently serving as chapter president. She has attended state and national conventions. Huhmann also has attended Washington Leadership Conference.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Emerging Agricultural Technology is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level and is sponsored by the Youth Activities Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives Inc.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters.  The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
