Missouri FFA News Releases

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009 - Taylor Huhmann, Tipton, Mo., was selected Area 8 State Vice President at the 2009 Missouri FFA Convention. Huhmann is a member of the Tipton FFA Chapter. Her advisors are Duane Melton and Gary Morris.

Huhmann’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) is called Ozark Gold. Ozark Gold is an all-natural soil amendment and fertilizer made from turkey mortality and wood chips.

Huhmann serves as her chapter’s president and has previously served as assistant vice president and reporter. Huhmann was the 2008 state FFA proficiency winner in environmental science and natural resource management. In 2008, an article about her SAE, Ozark Gold, was featured in the Jefferson City News Tribune and the Missouri Conservationist magazine. She also received the State FFA Camp Leadership Medal in 2007.

Outside of FFA, Huhmann has been a member of National Honor Society, DECA, Hispanic National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Business Leaders of America. She also has been a member of her high school track, cross country, basketball and softball teams.

Huhmann plans to attend the University of Missouri pursuing a degree in agricultural education.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
