Pendleton from Tipton FFA Chapter named Area 8 Star in Placement

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Colten Pendleton of the Tipton FFA Chapter as the Area 8 Star in Placement. Pendleton is the son of Charles and Karen Pendleton of Tipton. His advisors are Gary Morris and Duane Melton.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a studentís supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 8 includes 24 chapters in the Central district.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.

Pendletonís SAE program includes working on the JET Cattle Ranch, Tipton, and his grandpaís farm. The two operations combined run approximately 1,200 cows. His daily responsibilities are feeding and maintaining herd health. Pendleton additionally cuts, bales and transports hay. He then prepares the field for the next rotation, through the practices of brush hogging and spreading manure.

Pendleton competed at the district level poultry and nursery/landscape career development events. He also completed at the state level in the agricultural mechanics CDE, where he received a Group I individual rating. He won the area beef production placement proficiency award. Pendleton attended Greenhand Motivational Conference and Missouri FFA Convention.

In addition to FFA, Pendleton is a member of the National Honor Society and SkillsUSA.

After graduating high school, Pendletonís plans include continuing to work at JET Cattle Ranch and his grandpaís farm.

The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
