Troy Meinke Wins Missouri FFA Emerging Agricultural Technology Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009– Troy Meinke of the Princeton FFA Chapter, Princeton Mo., won first in the Emerging Agricultural Technology Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Meinke is a senior at Princeton High School . He is the son of Terry and Jennifer Meinke. His advisor is Brain Williams.

 

In FFA Meinke has attended Washington Leadership Convention and National FFA convention.

 

Meinke Supervised Agricultural Experience involves working at Meinke farms and Meinke Custom Combing. Some of his responsibilities involve maintaining and setting up the guidance systems to gain the most out of the investment. Meinke is also in charge of the Apex software which organizes all information, prints maps and makes reports of all field information such as yield moisture, variety, speeding rate, elevation, target depth and soil summaries. His experience has taught him hard work responsibility and he has gained a lot of knowledge about satellite-directed technology systems.

 

Meinke’s future plans are to eventually own and operate his own large farm.

 

As an FFA member Meinke has served as the chapter offices of Parliamentarian, Vice President, and President from 2006-2009. He has attended state and national conventions. Meinke has attended Washington leadership conference. He has received a group 1 rating at state in FFA Knowledge CDE, Soils CDE and, Meat Evaluation CDE.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Emerging Agricultural Technology is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level and is sponsored by the Youth Activities Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives Inc.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
