Bubby Masters Second Place Winner 2009 Missouri FFA Ag Mechanics Energy Systems Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Bubby Masters of the Mc Donald FFA chapter, Anderson, Mo., was named the state second place winner of the FFA Agricultural Mechanics Energy Systems Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. Masters, a senior at McDonald County R1 High School, is the son of Rob Knight and Kim Masters. His FFA advisors are Will Gordon, Rob Hall and Brian Nelson. As an FFA member, Masters has participated in numerous activities at the chapter and area levels. These activities include Farm Tour and Farm Fest. Masters works at Knight Trenching where his daily responsibilities include operating machinery to lay fiber optic cable. Over the years, Masters’ responsibilities have grown. He is now responsible for overseeing the jobs. “Hard work really does pay off” says Masters. After Masters graduates college, he plans to become an entrepreneur and own his own business. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Mechanics Energy Systems is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. Ahrens Steel and Welding Supply of Columbia, Mo., sponsored this award. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization had over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands . The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
