Palmyra FFA Farm Management Team Places Third at State

COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16-17, 2009 – The Palmyra FFA Chapter placed third in the Farm Management Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 47 teams in this competition.

The winning team members were Tony Hudson, Rachel Jones, Tiffany Miller and Brian White. There were 178 individuals who participated in the competition and Rachel Jones placed second overall, Brian White placed 9th and Tony Hudson placed 25th. The Palmyra advisor is Luke Mahsman.

Individuals in this contest analyzed real-life business problems and completed a detailed exam to prove their understanding of economic principles. Participants used what they learned in their agricultural business classes to compete. Skills the students apply in the event will help them face even greater challenges in their professional lives.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.

The FFA Mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
