Meredith Jones of the Chillicothe FFA Chapter Named State FFA Vice President

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 –Meredith Jones of Chillicothe, Mo., has been elected as the 2009-2010 Area 2 State FFA Vice President. Jones is a member of the Chillicothe FFA chapter. Her advisors are Brian Thompson, Jim Grozinger, Keith Dietzschold, Leda Schreiner, Matthew Trussell, Roger Wolf, Ron Wolf and Rusty Black.

 

Jones’ FFA Supervised Agriculture Experience Program (SAE) consists of an Angus and Angus-Cross cattle operation and work experience on a crop and cattle farm operation.

 

Jones has participated at state competition in prepared public speaking, the Missouri Cattleman’s Ambassador Contest, the Missouri Farm Bureau Public Speaking contest, the Missouri Farm Bureau Ambassador contest, and is competing this year in the Advanced Public Speaking Career Development Event (CDE). She is serving as the 2009 Missouri Farm Bureau Ambassador. She has competed at the state level in the Livestock and Floriculture CDEs.

 

Jones has won local proficiency awards in Beef Production Entrepreneurship and Beef Production Placement. She has participated in the Washington Leadership Conference and received her State Leadership Medal.

 

Jones has earned recognition in Who’s Who Among American High School Students and has received the Presidential Award. She serves as Southwest R-1 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) historian. She is a member of National Honor Society, student council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). She has been co-captain of her softball and basketball teams and cheerleading squad. She also participates in track and field.

 

Jones plans to attend North Central Missouri College in Trenton, Mo., and receive her Associate’s Degree. She will then transfer to the University of Missouri where she will study Agricultural Business - Communications and Agricultural Education.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
