Troy FFA Farm Management Team Places First at State

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16-17, 2009 – The Troy FFA Chapter placed first in the Farm Management Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 47 teams in this competition.

 

The winning team members were Austin Carroll, Ashley Kamler, Kody Raines and Michael Schieffer. There were 178 individuals in the competition. Austin Carroll placed third, Michael Schieffer placed fourth, Kody Raines placed seventh and Ashley Kamler placed eighth. The Troy advisors are Alan Harrell, Doyle Justus, Matt McCrory, and Rob Calvin.

 

Individuals in this contest analyzed real-life business problems and completed a detailed exam to prove their understanding of economic principles. Participants used what they learned in their agricultural business classes to compete. Skills the students apply in the event will help them face even greater challenges in their professional lives.

 

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
