There were 60 teams in the competition. The winning team members were Andy Folta, Laura Kaimann, Erin Mennemeyer and Travis Meyers. Meyers placed seventh, Kaimann placed 13th, Mennemeyer 17th, and Folta placed 22nd out of 218 individuals. The advisors are Allen Harrell, Doyle Justus, Matt McCroy and Rob Calvin. Participants in the contest evaluate beef, sheep and swine using performance records and physical appraisals. The team members present oral reasons on three of six classes they judged to defend and explain the placing of the class. Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
