Photo available at: http://agebb.missouri.edu/news/moffaconv/CDE/pics/IMG_4040.JPG Troy FFA Dairy Cattle Team Places Second At State COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2009 - The Troy FFA Chapter placed second in the Dairy Cattle Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 59 teams in the competition. The team members are Jackie Burkemper, Dustin Elledge, Tiffany Elliott and Andi Graviett. Burkemper ranked 12th, Elledge ranked ninth, Elliot ranked 13th and Graviett placed 17th out of 221 individuals. The Troy FFA advisors are Alan Harrell, Doyle Justus, Matt McCrory and Rob Calvin. Individuals in this event are scored based on how well they apply dairy cattle evaluation skills learned in the classroom. Each team evaluates six classes of four dairy cattle and presents oral reasons on their evaluations. Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands.
