Aurora FFA Agronomy Team Places Third At State Contest COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2009 – The Aurora FFA agronomy team placed third at the Agronomy Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 58 teams in the competition. The winning team members are Rachael Cavener, Ashley Cubel, Becca Hass and Jamie Nash. Individually, Hass ranked fifth, Cavener ranked seventh, Nash ranked 12th and Cubel ranked 20th. Aurora’s FFA advisors are Craig Grisham and Jim Spencer, Jr. Individuals in this contest evaluate crop production and factors that influence the quality of seed and forage crops. Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
