Missouri FFA News Releases

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16-17, 2009 – The Aurora FFA Chapter placed second in the Farm Management Career Development Event at the 81^st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 47 teams in this competition.

The winning team members were Blake Ash, Jennifer Cox, Mitchel Kay and Megan Welker. There were 178 individuals who participated in the competition and Mitchel Kay placed 10^th overall, Jennifer Cox placed 13^th, Blake Ash placed 16th and Megan Welker placed 20^th. The advisors are Craig Grisham and Jim Spencer, Jr.

Individuals in this contest analyzed real-life business problems and completed a detailed exam to prove their understanding of economic principles. Participants used what they learned in their agricultural business classes to compete. Skills the students apply in the event will help them face even greater challenges in their professional lives.

Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
