CDEKnow-1st-Aurora-1570-caption Photo available at: http://agebb.missouri.edu/news/moffaconv/CDE/pics/IMG_1570(1).JPG Aurora FFA Knowledge Team Places First at State Competition COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2009 - The Aurora FFA Chapter claimed first place in the FFA Knowledge Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 52 teams in the competition. Aurora team members were Liz Brechbuhler, Lucus Guthrie, Ashlee Jones, and Courtne Spencer. Brechbuhler ranked first, Guthrie ranked second, Jones ranked seventh, and Spencer ranked sixth out of 204 individuals. The Aurora advisors are Craig Grisham and Jim Spencer. The knowledge teams spend numerous hours studying for the 100-question test covering FFA history and information on the National FFA Organization. Sponsored by the Missouri FFA Association, this contest is one of many ways the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. The FFA Mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. -End-
