Mount Vernon FFA Knowledge Team Places Third at State Competition
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 17, 2009 - The Mount Vernon FFA Chapter claimed third place in the FFA Knowledge Career Development Event at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. There were 52 teams in the competition.
Mount Vernon team members are Ashley Bailey, Kayla Fletcher, Alex Garrett, and Brooke Mareth. Bailey ranked forty-sixth, Fletcher ranked fourteenth, Garrett ranked nineteenth, and Mareth ranked eleventh out of 204 individuals.
The knowledge teams spend numerous hours studying for the 100-question test covering FFA history and information on the National FFA Organization.
Sponsored by the Missouri FFA Association, this contest is one of many ways the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 500,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
