Cheyanne Estep second place winner 2009 Missouri FFA Small Animal Production and Care Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Cheyanne Estep of the Marionville FFA Chapter, Marionville, Mo., was named second place winner of the FFA Small Animal Production and Care Entrepreneurship and Placement Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Estep, a graduate of Marionville High School, is the daughter of Mark and Shawna Estep. Her FFA advisor is Mark Estep.

 

As an FFA member, Estep attended State and National FFA Conventions. She has participated in Washington Leadership Conference and State FFA convention delegate. Estep has been involved with varsity Softball and Basketball She was the all regional catcher in Ssoftball and first team all district catcher in 2006-2007. She was student council president, vice president of her senior class, a member of Future Business Leaders of America and Homecoming Queen Candidate her senior year.

 

Estep began her Supervised Agricultural Experience Program in small animal care. She shadowed her mother a veterinarian technician. She chose to raise Basset Hounds after spending a lot of time researching and working with several clients to help make her decision. Her father and her built a Shoppe for her to market her puppies. She currently advertises on three different websites and in the local media as well. Estep eventually hopes to expand her work and attain a breeder’s license to diversify her breeds.

 

Her future plans include continuing to attend North Arkansas Community College playing softball. She then plans to attend Missouri State University studying education and sports therapy.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Small Animal Production and Care Entrepreneurship and Placement is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at the state level. The Missouri FFA Association of Jefferson City, Mo. sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
