Miller FFA Agricultural Sales Team Places Third at State
COLUMBIA , Mo., April 17, 2009 - The Miller FFA Chapter placed third in the FFA Agricultural Sales Career Development Event at the 81th Missouri FFA Convention. There were 24 teams in the competition.
The Miller team members were Kurt Gulick, Cheyenne Gulick, Jared Andrews and Valenti Gradinariu. Cheyenne Gulick ranked sixth and Kurt Gulick ranked 18th out of 91 individuals. The Miller FFA advisors are Jay Shepherd and Lyle Whittaker.
Entries include an individual sales presentation and team sales situation for an agricultural product. Competitors also are asked to demonstrate their ability to relate to customers, prospect for customers and carry out promotions. Finishing first means these students can successfully apply classroom learning to real-life situations.
Sponsored by University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, this contest is one way the FFA prepares student members for career success. Career development events engage student learning and make a real connection to lifetime goals.
The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
