Ben Logan State Winner 2009 Missouri FFA Ag Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship and Placement Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Ben Logan of the Miller FFA Chapter, Republic, Mo., was named the state winner of the FFA Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship and Placement Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

Logan, a graduate of Miller High School, is the son of Doug and Kayla Logan. His FFA advisors are Jay Shepherd and Lyle Whittaker. Logan has participated in numerous FFA events and activities including National FFA Convention in 2008 and Washington Leadership Conference in 2007. 

 

Logan started his Supervised Agriculture Experience Program (SAE) two years ago at Hoods Service Center . Logan ’s duties were to fuel semi trucks, change and repair tires on trucks and passenger vehicles. Logan went on to work at Stainless Steel LTD., a company that consists of custom fabricating projects out of stainless steel sanitary tubing.

 

In the future, Logan plans to continue his work in the commercial welding field and later plans on starting a fencing business and purchasing land to begin a commercial cow-calf operation.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance and Entrepreneurship and Placement Combined Award are two of 47 proficiency awards presented at state level. Ahrens Steel and Welding Supply sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
