SCHREIER RECEIVES FIRST-PLACE MISSOURI FFA PROFICIENCY AWARD

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 17, 2009 –Stephanie Schreier, member of the Lex La Ray FFA Chapter, was named the first-place winner of the Outdoor Recreation Proficiency Award at the 80th Annual Missouri FFA Convention.

Schreier, a senior at Lex-lar-Ray AVTS, is the daughter of Kevin and Melanie Schreier. Her advisor is Harold Bertz.

As a FFA member, Schreier is involved with the district dairy cattle judging career development events, attended the Greenhand Motivational Conference, National FFA convention and FFA creed speaking.

Schreier Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) began her work at the Battle of Levington State Historic Site and Anderson House as a tour guide and gardener. Outdoor recreation is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at the state level. This proficiency award is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .

The FFA Mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
