DANNER RECEIVES SECOND PLACE MISSOURI FFA TURF GRASS MANAGEMENT

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Cody Danner, a member of the Lex La Ray FFA Chapter, Lexington, Mo., was named the second place winner of the FFA Turf Grass Management Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. 

 

Danner, a graduate of Lex-La-Ray AVTS, is the son of George and Carol Danner. His advisor is Harold Bertz.

 

As a member of the Lex La Ray FFA Chapter, Danner has attended the National FFA convention. He also has been a Missouri State Fair exhibitor, received his state degree and been chapter vice president.

 

Outside of FFA, Danner is a FACS member and an officer of Skills USA. He also is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and National Technical Honor Society.

 

Danner’s Supervised Agriculture Experience Program (SAE) began when he was employed by Jon Bollmeyer’s Lawn Service. After high school graduation Danner was promoted to shop manager. Graduating from both programs gave Danner the necessary knowledge to work on lawn mowers, equipment and trucks.

 

After graduating he was promoted to shop manager and has shown great interest in the equipment and how it performs.

 

Danner future plans are to use his experiences learned to work in the welding industry.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Turf Grass Management is one of 47 proficiency awards presented at the state level. The Crader Distributing Company – BME STIHL sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters.  The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
