CORY BAKER NAMED STATE WINNER IN 2009 MISSOURI FFA DAIRY PRODUCTION PLACEMENT PROFICIENCY AWARD COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Cory Baker, of the Sarcoxie FFA Chapter, Sarcoxie, Mo., was named the state winner of the FFA Dairy Production Placement Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. Baker is the son of Mike and Tonya Baker. His FFA advisors are Brenda Leap and Eugene Meyer. In Baker’s Supervised Agricultural Experience program, he is responsible for milking cows, building fence, and scraping holding pens. He is currently attending college and continues to work weekends at the dairy farm. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. The FFA Dairy Production Placement Proficiency Award is one of the 47 proficiency awards that will be awarded this year. It is sponsored by Midwest Dairy Association. The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
