Baldwin places second in State FFA Division II Prepared Public Speaking contest
COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 18, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association awarded Alex Baldwin, a member of the Sarcoxie FFA Chapter, second place in the FFA Prepared Public Speaking Division II contest at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.
Baldwin ’s advisors are Eugene Meyer and Brenda Leap.
Sixteen students competed at the state level.
Division II Prepared Public Speakers deliver a four- to six-minute speech based on an agriculture topic that they have selected and researched. The contestants present their speech in front of a panel of judges and then undergo an additional four minutes of questions. The judges base their decision on the information presented, the student’s knowledge of the subject, the delivery of the speech and the answers to the questions.
MFA, Inc. and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources sponsored the event and plaques.
The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
