Cloud from Carthage FFA Chapter named Area 9 Star Farmer

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Kaitlyn Cloud FFA Chapter as the Area 9 Star Farmer. Her parents are Chris and Michelle Cloud of Carthage. Her advisors are Brandon Duff, Chris Cloud, Tom Howard and Justin Mauss.

Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the studentís supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 9 includes 16 chapters in the Southwest District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Star Farmer Award.

Cloudís SAE program consists of purebred Simmental and Sim-Angus seed-stock operations. Within these operations, she utilizes embryo transfer and artificial insemination. She also owns recipient cows for embryo transfer to produce custom genetics in calves for customers. In addition, Cloud raises purebred Corgi puppies to sell to breeders across the United States.

Cloud currently serves as chapter president, and previously served as chapter treasurer and area vice president. Cloud competed at the state level in Division I, Division II and advanced prepared public speaking; FFA knowledge; and livestock career development events. She won the area agricultural sales proficiency award. She is a graduate of the Missouri Agribusiness Academy, and attended the Washington Leadership Conference, State FFA Leadership Camp, and Area Officer Institute.

In addition to FFA, Cloud is a member of the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. She also participated in volleyball and track.

After graduating high school, Cloudís plans include attending Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, Miami, Oklahoma, to participate on the livestock judging team. Cloud said she will then transfer to Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, to study agricultural business and food science.

The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
