Robnett from Audrain County FFA Chapter named Area 5 Star Farmer
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Lauryn Robnett of the Audrain County FFA Chapter as the Area 5 Star Farmer.† Her parents are Jon and Dana Robnett of Laddonia. Her advisors are Stacy French and Britton Francis.
Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture in the studentís supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 5 includes 19 chapters in the Northeast District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star Farmer awards and the State Star Farmer Award.
Robnett began her SAE program as a freshman with two commercial cows and renting 29 cropland acres. She soon started to diversify by adding show steers and goats, and increasing acreage where she rotates corn and soybeans. Robnett said she works hard to grow her operation and increase livestock quality.
Robnett currently serves as chapter president and area secretary. She competed at the national level in the nursery/landscape career development event, where she received a Gold individual rating. She also competed at the state level in the meats evaluation and dairy cattle evaluation CDEs, where she received a Group I individual rating in both. She placed fourth in the Missouri Cattle Industry Speaking Contest. Robnett was winner in the area grain production entrepreneurship proficiency award. She is a graduate of Helping Youth Maximize Agricultural eXperiences Academy and Public Speaking Institute. She also attended Washington Leadership Conference and Lead, Educate, Advance, Develop Conference for Chapter Officers.
In addition to FFA, Robnett has been a member of the National Honor Society, Striving To Reach Individuals Valuable to Education Organization and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She participated in varsity basketball. Outside of school, Robnett has been a member and officer in the Merry Martins 4-H Club, where she was awarded Beef Member of the Year for Audrain County. Additionally, Robnett is a youth member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she participated in the Parish School of Religion and attended the National Catholic Youth Conference.
After graduating high school, Robnettís plans include attending the University of Missouri, Columbia, to study animal science, animal nutrition and communications/leadership. Robnett said she plans to pursue a career in the animal science and nutrition industry, possibly in sales and marketing. Eventually, Robnett said she hopes to return to her local community to farm.
The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
