Photo cutline: Chris Rexrode, of the Willow Springs FFA Chapter, wins first place Home and Community Development Award during the 81st Missouri FFA Convention in Columbia, Mo., April 16-17. -END- Home&CommDev1stRexrode0250caption Photo available at: http://agebb.missouri.edu/news/moffaconv/ProfWin/pics/IMG_0250.JPG Rexrode WINS 2009 MISSOURI FFA HOME AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROFICIENCY AWARD COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2009 – Chris Rexrode, member of the Willow Springs FFA Chapter, Willow Springs, Mo., received first place in the Home and/or Community Development Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. Rexrode, a senior at Willow Springs R-IV High School, is the son of Robert and Debi Rexrode. His advisor is Nathan C. Sanders. As an FFA member, Rexrode attended the 2008 State FFA Convention and participated in State FFA Convention Courtesy Corp. In 2008 he won the State FFA Landscape Management Proficiency Award. Rexrode Supervised Agricultural Experience Program (SAE) evolves working for a couple of local auction companies and working at a local farm. Work on the farm included learning the ins and outs of brush hogging, learning proper safety, height adjustment and learning how to maneuver a tractor through different types of landscapes. Rexrode also has worked for Boughs Construction. He has been able to expand his skills by using his knowledge outside of class at his jobs. He has been able to design landscapes for Boughs and agricultural mechanic skills by building pipe fencing, and brush hogging in the community. He plans to attend Linn University and earn his State and American FFA Degrees. Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Home and/or community development is one of 47 proficiency areas recognized at the state level. Missouri Agribusiness Association sponsored the award. The Missouri FFA Association has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 States, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
