Emily Alder Receives Second Place Missouri FFA Agricultural Processing Entrepreneurship and Placement Combined Proficiency Award

COLUMBIA , Mo., April 16, 2008 – Emily Alder, from the Logan-Rogersville FFA Chapter, Rogersville, Mo., received the second place in the FFA Agricultural Processing Entrepreneur and Placement Combined Proficiency Award at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention.

 

She is the daughter of Robert  Alder Jr. and Heather McDonald. Her advisors are Jayson Shriver and Chad Bybee.

 

In FFA, Alder attended state convention and the state FFA Convention Courtesy Corp. she also attended greenhand motivational conference and the District Fair. She competed in the Farm Bureau Speaking Contest.

 

Alder’s SAE began with her family opening up Heather Hill Farms. She was in charge of overseeing and ordering the candy for the store. When their store finally open, she became a cashier and learned how to run quickbooks point of sale system and run financial reports as well. She increased her computer knowledge and financial skills, as well as customer service skills. Alder has also gained training in food handling, storage, and processing. Alder plans to continue her job with Heather Hill Farms throughout college.

 

Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural Processing Entrepreneur and Placement is one of 47 proficiencies awarded at the state level

 

The Missouri FFA Agricultural Processing Proficiency Award is sponsored by the Missouri Agribusiness Association sponsored this award.

 

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
