Eaker from Union FFA Chapter named Area 14 Star in Placement

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., April 24, 2020 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Taylor Eaker of the Union FFA Chapter as the Area 14 Star in Placement. Eaker is the son of Allen and Kathy Eaker of Union. His advisors are Kyle Maberry, Josh Roehrs and Danielle Blair.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agricultural business as a part of a studentís supervised agricultural experience program and active participation in FFA. Area 14 includes 20 chapters in the South Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 area Star in Placement awards and the State Star in Placement Award.

Eakerís SAE program involves working at Lakebrink Heating & Air Conditioning, Union, where he performs maintenance and repairs. He works 20-45 hours-per week depending on the time of year and temperatures outside. Eaker works both in and out of the shop, doing complete maintenance plans, repairs on shop equipment, and repairs and installation of HVAC systems.

Eaker currently serves as chapter sentinel. He competed in the district forestry and agricultural sales career development events, and at state in the poultry CDE. Eaker won the state agricultural mechanics design and fabrication proficiency award. He attended the National FFA Convention & Expo, and state FFA convention, serving in the courtesy corps for both.†

In addition to FFA, Eaker is a member of A+ Program. Outside of school, he is a member of the Jeffriesburg 4-H Club, Franklin County Youth Fair Board and Immaculate Conception Church.

After graduating high school, Eakerís plans include studying HVAC at State Tech of Missouri, Linn. Upon completion of his program, Eaker said he plans to continue working at Lakebrink Heating & Air Conditioning as an installer.

The Missouri FFA has 25,945 members representing 348 chapters. The national organization has more than 700,000 members representing 8,612 chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
