Missouri FFA News Releases

COLUMBIA , Mo. , April 16, 2009 – The Missouri FFA Association recognized Curtis Kluesner from the Washington FFA Chapter as the Area 14 Star in Placement at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. His parents are Pete and Jackie Kluesner of Washington, Mo. His advisor is Chris Dunard.

Area Stars in Placement are selected based upon outstanding achievement in work experience in an agriculture business as part of a student’s Supervised Agricultural Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 14 covers 19 chapters in the South Central District.

MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star in Placement awards.

Kluesner's SAE program began by working with his dad on the family farm. As Kluesner got older, he gained more responsibilities on the farm and started receiving pay as a freshman in high school. At Kluesner Farms LLC, he is a farm laborer working seven days a week raising hogs and cattle as well as the crops of corn, soybeans, wheat, hay and silage.

Kluesner served as a chapter sentinel in 2007-2008. He competed in the State FFA Agronomy and Livestock Career Development events. He has attended the State FFA Convention and participated in the State FFA Convention Courtesy Corps.

Kluesner was a senior at Washington High School and graduated in January of 2009. Now that he has graduated, he plans to continue to work for Kluesner Farms LLC. He plans to buy into the farm as a partner in the corporation.

The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has over 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands .
