FULLER FROM THE HOLCOMB FFA CHAPTER RECOGNIZED AS AREA 16 STAR FARMER
COLUMBIA, Mo., April 16, 2009 - The Missouri FFA Association recognized Ben Fuller of the Holcomb FFA Chapter as Area 16 Star Farmer at the 81st Missouri FFA Convention. He is the son of Terry and Linda of Kennett, Mo. His advisor is John Osborn.
Area Star Farmers are chosen based upon outstanding production agriculture for the student’s Supervised Agriculture Experience Program and active participation in FFA. Area 16 covers 17 chapters in the Southeast District.
MFA Inc., Columbia, sponsors the 16 Area Star Farmer awards.
Fuller's SAE program began with 4 acres of Eclipse cantaloupes and was expanded to 15 acres of Crimson Sweet, Jubilee II and Sugar Baby watermelons; 10 acres of Eclipse and Diva cantaloupes; and 3 acres of sweet corn.
Fuller is the chapter vice president. He placed first in the dairy cattle judging contest. He has competed in the dairy cattle and poultry career development events.
Fuller has served as vice president of Beta. He also is a member of the drama club and the Varner River Baptist Church.
After high school, Fuller plans to study agricultural business and horticulture at the College of the Ozarks. He hopes to use his degree to improve the family farm.
The Missouri FFA has 24,410 members representing 317 chapters. The national organization has more than 507,000 members representing 7,439 local chapters in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands.
