Associated Industries recognizes Wilson for helping St. Louis area businesses

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Kevin Wilson, regional director for University of Missouri Small Business Development programs in the St. Louis area, received Associated Industries of Missouri's Extension Industry Award, Oct. 29.

Associated Industries presents the award to an MU Extension faculty member whose work benefits the state's business climate.

During the last year, Wilson has worked with area businesses to create and retain more than 700 jobs, achieve sales of $53.5 million and secure investments of $28 million. He also assisted individuals in creating 60 new businesses.

Wilson also was instrumental in working with the St. Louis Agency for Training and Employment to obtain state grant money for nine dislocated workers to start small businesses.

Wilson has forged several partnerships with local and national organizations, including the U.S. Small Business Administration, the St. Louis Empowerment Zone, the St. Louis Development Corporation, and the St. Louis County Economic Council, among others.
