Missouri Dairy Business Planning Grant Program
The Missouri Department of Agriculture's Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority (MASBDA) has announced the next round of Dairy Business Planning Grants. Applications must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 1, 2009. The application packet can be downloaded at this web address http://www.mda.mo.gov/masbda/pdf/dairyplanninggrant.pdf .
The goal of the Dairy Business Planning Grant (DBPG) is to improve profitability, increase production, encourage and facilitate startup, modernization, and expansion of Missouri dairy farms.
The DBPG shall not exceed $5,000 or finance more than 90% of the cost of the business plan, whichever is less. Applicants are required to pay the first 10 percent of costs for the dairy business plan from sources other than the State of Missouri.
Proceeds from a grant may only be used to contract with a pre-approved, qualified dairy business planning professional to provide services necessary to assist the applicant in evaluating start-up, modernization, expansion, or increased production of a Missouri dairy farm.
