Milk production in the U.S. was estimated to be up 3.9% in December 2005 compared to December 2004, based upon 0.5% more cows and 3.3% more milk production per cow.

Milk production in the top 23 states was up 4.3% in December 2005 compared to December 2004, based upon 0.8% more cows and a 3.4% increase in milk production per cow.

In Missouri, milk production was down 2.0% in December 2005 compared to December 2004, based upon 4.2% fewer cows, and an increase in milk production per cow of 2.4%.
