EPA is extending the deadline for the sign-up period for the
Animal Feeding Operation Air Compliance Agreement to July 29,
2005, in order to provide more time for operators of animal
feeding operations to make informed decisions about participation.
The Agreement addresses emissions from certain animal feeding
operations, also known as AFOs. This Agreement is part of the
EPA's ongoing effort to minimize air emissions from such operations
and to ensure that they comply with the Clean Air Act and other
federal environmental laws. The period for public comment on
the Agreement ended May 2, 2005. The deadline for AFO operators
to sign the Agreement was originally extended until July 1 and
will now close on July 29.
National Milk Producers has produced a fact sheet about the
agreement, specifically for dairy producers. It is available
as a pdf file at:

The Commercial Agriculture Program in cooperation with the
Missouri Department of Natural Resources has developed two documents
to provide information to Missouri’s livestock producers about
the Agreement. A link has been established on the Commercial
Ag Program website where both documents may be viewed and downloaded
and the EPA website may be accessed.
