Milk production in the U.S. was estimated to be down 0.4% in June 2004 compared to June 2003, based upon 0.9% fewer cows and 0.5% more milk production per cow.

Milk production in the top 20 states was down 0.2% in June 2004 compared to June 2004, based upon 0.6% fewer cows and a 0.4 % increase in milk production per cow.

In Missouri, milk production was down 2.5% in June 2004 compared to June 2003 based upon 4.6% fewer cows, and an increase in milk production per cow of 2.5%.

The number of milk cows in Missouri has held steady at 124,000 since March 2004.
