Milk Production - Cows down, milk per cow up
Milk production in the U.S. was estimated to be down 1.2% in April
2004 compared to April 2003, based upon 1.5% fewer cows and 0.3%
more milk production per cow.
Milk production in the top 20 states was down 0.9% in April 2004
compared to April 2003, based upon 1.0% fewer cows and a 0.2%
increase in milk production per cow.
In Missouri, milk production was down 1.2% in April 2004 compared to
April 2003 based upon 4.6% fewer cows, and an increase in milk
production per cow of 3.4%.
