Milk Production
Milk production in the U.S. was estimated to be down 1.3% in January 2004 compared to January 2003, based upon 1.7% fewer cows and 0.4% more milk production per cow.
Milk production in the top 20 states was down 0.9% in January 2004 compared to January 2003, based upon 1.2% fewer cows and a 0.3% increase in milk production per cow.
In Missouri, milk production was down 4.8% in January 2004 compared to January 2003 based upon 6.7% fewer cows, and an increase in milk production per cow of 2.0%.
