Milk Production - Dropping for the first time since October 2001!
Milk production in the U.S. was down 0.5% in May 2003 compared to
May 2003, based upon 0.3% fewer cows and 0.1% less milk production
per cow.
Milk production in the top 20 states was down 0.4% in May 2003
compared to May 2002, based upon 0.2% fewer cows and 0.5% less milk
per cow.
In Missouri, milk production was down 2.8% in May 2003 compared to
May 2002 based upon 5.1% fewer cows, (a drop of 7,000 cows), and and
increase in milk production per cow of 2.3%. A nice cool May
helped!
