Milk Production
Milk production in the U.S. was estimated to be down 0.5% in
September 2003 compared to September 2002, based upon 1.0% fewer
cows and 0.5% more milk production per cow.
Milk production in the top 20 states was down 0.1% in September 2003
compared to September 2002, based upon 0.5% fewer cows and a 0.4%
decrease in milk production per cow.
In Missouri, milk production was down 0.7% in September 2003
compared to September 2002 based upon 6.6% fewer cows, (a drop of
9,000 cows), and an increase in milk production per cow of 6.2%.
