May milk production was up 2% overall in the US. Missouri's production dropped 3% from the May 2001 level based on 7% fewer cows but 5% better milk production per cow. Missouri milk production per cow continues to rise at almost twice the national average rate, although Missouri's milk production is at a much lower level than the national average.
