Dairy Options Pilot Program (DOPP)

Dairymen in Barry, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Howell, Laclede, Lawrence, Newton, Ozark, Polk, Texas, Webster, and Wright counties are still eligible to sign up for the Dairy Options Pilot Program. Under the program USDA will pay 80% of the cost of establishing floors under milk prices using put options on up to 600,000 pounds of milk. This is the final year for the program.

Eighty-two dairymen attended the DOPP training sessions held this month in Mt. Vernon on May 21st and in Mt. Grove on May 22nd.

Dairymen who still want to participate in the DOPP program but did not attend the training can still participate by contacting the Risk Management Agency directly to complete the training via the web.

Important deadlines:

Signup must be completed before June 20th, (30 days after the training sessions were held)

Put options must be purchased in the next four months, covering milk produced anytime through April 2003.
