Business Survey
Since 2007, when the economy
and housing market crashed, the
logging industry has teetered on
the edge of crisis (see our story on
the impending logging crisis in
Sept. 2009’s Forest2Mill
newsletter). With logging
companies in every region of the
country closing their doors and
with younger loggers choosing
other, more lucrative, ways of
making a living, the industry’s
ability to snap back quickly when
the market recovers has been a
subject of concern.
Have things changed since 2009?
Timber Harvesting & Wood Fiber
Operations intends to find out. The
magazine is conducting the 2011
Logging Business Survey, which
will become the core of an article
on the state of the logging industry
and be featured in the May-June
issue. According to D.K. Knight,
co-publisher of the magazine,
"The article will aid the Nation's
loggers in assessing their business
operations and also help enlighten
wood procurement and equipment
manufacturers and dealers."
Your participation is critically
important. You can participate in
the survey in one of three ways:
