Macon – Lolli Brothers Livestock Market
Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 06/27/17

Receipts: 1332 Week Ago: 408 Year Ago: 410

No recent feeder cattle sale for several weeks (last week was a Special Bred
Cow and Heifer sale) with sufficient numbers for a market test. Feeder cattle
traded with a weak to lower undertone with a nice offering of good quality
calves weighing mostly 550-750 lbs. Demand was good on a moderate supply.
Slaughter cows sold fully steady with last week. Over the last two weeks
sharply lower fed cattle market and sharp losses on the CME cattle complex have
pressured the feeder cattle market. Slaughter cows accounted for near 5 percent
of the total receipts. Feeder cattle supply consisted of 53 percent steers, 47
percent heifers and near 53 percent weighing over 600 lbs.

Unionville - Unionville Livestock Market, Inc
Feeder Cattle Auction for 06/27/17

Receipts: 2244 2 Weeks Ago: 598 Year Ago: 2221

Annual customer appreciation day at the market with a free ribeye
sandwich and sides for all in attendance. A nice run of quality
cattle and some incredibly beautiful weather made for a great day at the
auction. Only a limited test to the previous auction from two weeks ago
with the only real comparisons on steers over 900 lbs which traded
5.00-8.00 lower than the strong prices from the last sale. Slaughter
cows 3.00-5.00 higher. The fed cattle trade has been sharply lower the
past two weeks and that has led to the decline in the heavier weight
yearlings. A person could get whiplash this week watching the CME
prices as cattle futures on Tuesday took back all of their gains from
Monday’s mostly limit up trade. Demand was good and the supply moderate.
Cows and bulls accounted for 5 percent of the run and feeders 95 percent.
In the feeder supply, steers and bulls made up approximately 68 percent;
heifers 32 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around
85 percent.
