Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 2/13/2018

Receipts: 3752 Week Ago: 789 Year Ago: 4014

Compared to the last true test two weeks ago, steers weighing 500-700 lbs and
heifer calves weighing 500-550 lbs traded 5.00-9.00 higher. All other weights of
steers and heifers sold steady to 3.00 higher. The quality was good all day, but
it’s obvious that feed is cheap and abundant in this part of the country as most
of the cattle were carrying some flesh. Demand was good, especially for grass
cattle, except for being moderate on an ample supply of 750-800 lb steers that
will finish out this summer on the live contract low. Supply was heavy with
nearly all of the cattle backgrounded. The feeder offering was made up of near
58 percent steers and bulls and 42 percent heifers with 73 percent over 600 lbs.
Cows and bulls totaled 6 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold 2.00-4.00
