Compared to last Tuesday, feeder steers 2.00-7.00 lower. Feeder heifers

of the offering were cows and 41 percent of the feeders were over 600 lbs.
Feeder supply approximately 61 percent steers and bulls and 39 percent heifers.
Continued strong beef demand is holding the fed market together while the lower
trend in futures is affecting cash prices with a lot of help from seasonally
large feeder runs and the shrinking number of places to go with the cattle.

Feeder Cattle Auction Report for 12/5/2017

Receipts: 4856 Week Ago: 2214 Year Ago: 3045

Compared to last week, steers and heifers traded steady to 7.00 lower.
Supply was heavy for the annual customer appreciation sale with a large crowd on
hand. Several reputation strings of cattle were offered and demand was moderate
to mostly good despite cattle futures being on a downward trend the last few
trading sessions. Trade was active and buyers weren’t too concerned with what
the CME was doing during the day as the quality cattle just kept coming through
the ring. A cold front that swept through the region Monday afternoon brought
some much needed moisture and colder weather. The feeder offering was made up of
near 62 percent steers and bulls and 38 percent heifers with 47 percent over 600
lbs. Cows and bulls totaled 10 percent of the offering. Slaughter cows sold
2.00-3.00 lower.

Compared to last week's regular sale, steer and heifer calves traded
3.00-6.00 lower. There were too few yearlings in the offering for an
adequate price comparison. Demand was good early and weakened throughout
the day. The supply was moderate with the bulk of the offering of
average quality. With limited places to go with calves, buyers were
being more selective. Top prices, established early in the day, were
comparable to last week for weaned thin-fleshed calves, while fleshy
unweaned calves were having a difficult time finding a home. The feeder
supply included 43 percent Steers, 1 percent Dairy Steers, 48 percent
Heifers, and 8 percent Bulls with 23 percent of the offering weighing
